Washington RHP Connor Grimes Signs with California Grizzlies Baseball
Palm Springs, CA — California Grizzlies Baseball is proud to announce the signing of Connor Grimes, a right-handed pitcher from Washington, for the 2025–2026 season. A 2025 graduate, Grimes brings competitive varsity experience, pitchability, and projection to the Grizzlies' staff.
Standing at 5'11", 175 lbs, Grimes features a solid three-pitch mix—four-seam fastball, slider, and changeup—with a fastball that currently sits in the low 80s. He’s coming off a strong senior season, logging 43.2 innings over eight starts, including a complete game, and finishing with a 2.88 ERA. Grimes struck out 23 batters while allowing only 18 earned runs, showcasing both efficiency and command on the mound.
“Connor is a guy who’s shown he can go out and get outs,” said Head Coach Zack Novis. “He’s not flashy, but he competes in the zone and understands how to pitch. That mentality is something we value highly in our program.”
Grimes brings a quiet confidence and a starter’s mindset, making him a great fit for California Grizzlies Baseball’s development model. His consistent results and strong foundation suggest untapped potential—especially as he enters a structured strength and performance system.
“His numbers show consistency, and his frame and work ethic suggest there’s still a lot more in the tank,” noted Casey Dill, Director of Baseball Operations. “He fits the mold of the type of pitcher we want in this program—reliable, driven, and hungry to improve.”
With a strong base of mechanics and the ability to fill up the strike zone, Grimes is expected to benefit significantly from individualized development plans, especially in the weight room and bullpen.
“From a strength and performance standpoint, Connor has huge potential,” said Dwayne Green, Strength & Conditioning Coach. “With the right training, I expect to see a jump in his velocity, stamina, and explosiveness. He’s a coachable athlete who’s just beginning to hit his stride.”
Grimes joins a deep and competitive pitching staff at California Grizzlies Baseball and is expected to make an immediate impact in the 2025–2026 season.
